The therapists you can name from home, weeks before Amsterdam

Nobody on this page works shifts. Each woman fills her own diary, and the diary is the thing a booking made from abroad is written into. That is the one advantage of planning early which cannot be bought any other way: three weeks out, the evening you want is usually still empty in the diary of the woman you want, and on the night itself it often is not.

Naming her in the first line

Put the name first, then the date in Amsterdam, then the hour and the length. The reply says whether she is free on that date. If she is not, it tells you who is free that evening, and the choice stays yours. You can also start with the date alone and name somebody later, once the flights are settled; nothing is held and nothing is paid until a name and an hour have been agreed in writing.

What the profiles tell you

Each profile gives her age, her home district, her languages and the techniques she offers, with photographs that show her and appear with her consent. The ages run from twenty-one to twenty-eight. English is spoken by all twenty-three, and fourteen languages turn up across the roster as a whole, French on five profiles, Spanish on three, Russian and Ukrainian on two each. For a traveller who has spent a week abroad getting by in English, a profile in a language closer to home can be the deciding line.

Where her journey starts

There are no premises, so each journey starts at home. Eight of the women live in the centre, six in the Jordaan, five in Oud-Zuid and four in De Pijp. Across central Amsterdam that makes the crossing forty to sixty minutes, and on the day of your booking she lets you know when she has set out. A hotel at Schiphol is taken by arrangement, with the journey time agreed before the deposit is asked for.

One table for everyone

The rates repeat on every profile because they do not vary between women. For one guest, an hour costs 180 euros and ninety minutes 270; two hours are 360, three are 540, and the eight hour overnight is 1,250. Two therapists or a couple read off the other columns. Half goes ahead on any booking made more than twenty-four hours before its start, which covers nearly everything arranged from home; the terms set out the rest.
